The Institute of Public Affairs is a free market think tank based in Melbourne. As a not-for-profit, we are entirely funded by voluntary memberships and donations from our supporters. It’s only with the support of our members that we can continue to fight for freedom.

David Friend started working with the IPA in early 2012. We started working again with David in mid-2015 and with David’s support, we continue to exceed the targets that we set for ourselves. In 2012, we had only just started to really prioritise membership and we had 1,426 paying members. As of today, the IPA now has over 3,580 members. We could not have done this without David’s energetic support.

David has played a vital role in the growth of membership at the IPA and adapted his strategies to suit our unique needs. David has implemented a strategic membership program which has allowed us to grown as an organisation. David is responsible for creating very positive membership culture within the IPA and teaching all staff the importance of constantly thinking about membership. David taught the IPA that membership is a whole organisational activity – it can’t just be one or two people. David has been crucial source of motivation and his regular contact with IPA staff ensures them to keep focused and working towards the next goal.

We are very grateful for David’s support and encouragement towards the IPA. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with him and cannot imagine the IPA team without him.
