Cronulla Sharks

  • Contracted season 2015/16
  • Contracted to resurrect the membership and merchandise program that was in serious decline
  • Membership income grew by $700K
  • The NRL awarded the membership Club of the year in 2015/16 to the Sharks for the transformation to become the best membership program in the NRL

Western Sydney Wanderers

  • SSS were contracted for 2 years to develop the membership program for the Western Sydney Wanderers in their first year of the A League
  • The club became the second largest membership base in the A League and still are today
  • The club had to cap membership at 17,000 due to full capacity at the stadium
  • SSS were also contracted to fully managed the merchandise program – Gained sales in excess of $1 million each year of the SSS contract

Frankston Football Club

  • David Friend is a Current Board Member with the portfolios of both Membership & Merchandise
  • Helped the Club gain its VFL License to re-join the VFL League in Season 2018
  • Club gained record all time membership results in 2017 without the Club fielding a team
  • Continued success in 2018 after rejoining the VFL

Cricket Australia (Big Bash League)

  • Contracted for two seasons to develop a membership program for the Big Bash League with great success
  • Many clubs were hesitant to have membership as only a 4 game season
  • BBL membership program has been very successful, having seen year on year growth since its inception of over 30%

Penrith Panthers

  • Developed a membership program for 2 years and increased net profit by $650K within 2 years

New Zealand Warriors

  • Developed a membership program for 2 years
  • First year Club gained a 13% sales increase and second year 44% increase, the largest growth in the NRL for that season

Victorian Football League

  • Contracted in Season 2017/2018 to develop a standalone Club Central Club Membership program for 4 VFL Clubs
    • Coburg FC – Club Membership grew by 240% in Season 2017/18
    • Port Melbourne FC
    • Werribee FC – Club Membership grew by 473% in Season 2017/18
    • Williamstown FC – Family memberships increased by 40.5% since 2017
  • 12 months extended contract in Season 2018/19 to further develop Central Membership program for 5 VFL Clubs

    • Sandringham FC

Hawthorn Football Club (AFL)

David came to Hawthorn Football Club in 1997 as a volunteer to work with the Club as it faced a threatening merger. He joined the Club soon after as their Membership and Merchandise Manager. The Hawks had never before achieved more than 12000 members, yet had won more premierships than any other club in the 1980’s and ‘90’s.


Under David’s leadership the following membership results were achieved:

  • 1998 achieved 27,500 RECORD
  • 1999 achieved 32,341 RECORD
  • 2000 achieved 27,200 “Stadium Closed”
  • 2001 achieved 30,000
  • 2002 achieved 31,475

St Kilda Football Club (AFL)

In 2002 David was approached by St Kilda Football Club who asked him to join their club. St Kilda at this point had the lowest membership in the AFL with just 18,000 members.


Again outstanding membership figures resulted:

  • 2003 achieved 23,232 MEMBERSHIP RECORD
  • 2004 achieved 30,452 MEMBERSHIP RECORD
  • 2005 achieved 31,650 MEMBERSHIP RECORD

Melbourne Victory Football Club (Hyundai A-League)

Under Shared Services Solutions leadership the following membership results were achieved:

  • 2005 achieved 7172 members Highest in A League
  • 2006 achieved 11,142 members highest in A League

Canterbury Bulldogs (NRL)

Shared Services Solutions have achieved a 20% increase within first year of the contract and a further 20% for year 2.

South Sydney Rabbitohs (NRL)

Shared Services Solutions have achieved a 20% increase within first year of contract and doubled membership sales for the following year.


Central Coast Mariners Football Club (Hyundai A-League)

Shared Services Solutions have doubled membership figures from previous season.


Sydney Kings (NBL)

Shared Services Solutions developed and supported the membership strategy for the NBL Club, the Sydney Kings, for the 2007 season. The Kings achieved a 50% sale growth in second year of SSS contract


Sydney FC (A-League)

Shared Services Solutions has achieved an 18% increase in Membership sales for Sydney FC in 2008.
